This is not normal
Tumblr media
I thought we were all in agreement that it is completely unrealistic to expect people to check every single blog before liking one of their posts. If you don't want a specific group interacting Tag Your Shit

If you need an arm's length DNI because you're petrified of the possibility of occasionally sharing a space with an unpleasant person (or even someone you disagree with) and not knowing it I have terrible news for you about offline life and how it works

New Basic DNI criteria.
Look into perspectives and make your own opinions on things
Learn about why things are bad rather than just taking others word for it
Set your own boundaries and stop relying others to do your thinking for you

just saw a "read link in bio before interacting" which is the stupidest thing I've ever seen because if someone wants to like a post, 99 times out of 100, they're not going to go follow your special instructions to read your "before you interact rules". i want to like a post about cookies, why should there be a screening process???
I'm a curious person, and a bit irked at this point so i go to their bio and click on the link. surprise surprise it is a lengthy dni list. i think dnis are stupid (putting up a sign that says no homophobes in a public place is not going to scare them away), but whatever. so i read it. and almost the last one on the list is "dni if you stan real people"
???
what?
since when was that a problem?
literally WHO am i harming by being a one direction stan? they haven't even been active as a band in 8 years. and this. what? disqualifies me from liking a post about cookies?
huh?

To people with DNI lists
For context a separate website/link would be if you put a link in your description
*/pinned post
It didn't fitt
If it depends on the post just choose what answer it is most often

It doesn't matter to me if you use 'weird/freak' to mean actually harmful people, because weird has been used by those harmful people to hurt, demonise, and distress.
You will just upset/annoy autistic and LGBT+ people, while TERFs and other hateful/disrespectful people won't ever think it applies to them.
Nothing will show me that you don't actually care about people when you put a DNI of "Ableists, Weirdos"

Genuinely I will never understand DNI culture. I understand wanting to stay away from certain kinds of people online, especially if you're a minor, but shifting the responsibility of who you interact with entirely onto strangers who may not even read your DNI list (AND SHARING PERSONAL INFORMATION PUBLICALLY LIKE AGE AND TRIGGERS WHICH IS SO FUCKING DANGEROUS) is frankly just asking to get hurt. Someone sent me an emoji for my vocal synth ask game and I clicked on their block because I thought I recognized the art in their icon, but like... my guy you gotta follow YOUR OWN DNI. If you say 18+ dni then maybe don't dm an 18+ blog???? If you say paraphiles DNI maybe don't dm a blog that REGULARLY posts about objectum?????????? (I gen don't think they knew what paraphilia is and how it's a general term for philia's involving anything other than an adult human. Like yes it includes horrible awful things but it also involves harmless things like being attracted to literal inanimate objects. I would argue that being sexually attracted almost exclusively to fictional characters, especially those that are not entirely human, could be considered a paraphilia. it includes things like monsterfuckers which are very common.) Now I understand I don't have the phrase 18+ or NSFW in my bio and my pfp and banner are like very cutesy, but I just... I just think kids on the internet need to be more careful and I think that DNI culture as a whole is flawed. Please for the love of god if you are a child do not share personal information about your age, health, triggers, or personal details like pictures of yourself or where you live (even general info like country, state, or region can be dangerous). If you have a DNI please do your part to at least inspect the blog you're about to interact with just a little bit before sending them a dm or following them.

genuinely really wish people who do have dni’s on all of their posts would just put their dni at the very top.
it just really sours my mood when I read a post I do genuinely agree with or like and then at the very bottom there’s a dni I’m included in.

dni culture has legitimately broken my brain in a way i’m not sure how to recover from but i’m trying. i legitimately don’t know how to talk to people irl. this is probably very largely an autism thing but i’m so scared of talking to someone i can’t read a bio of. what if i put all this effort into getting to know them and i find out we have fundamentally incompatible ideals?
this might be because this *literally happened to me* but i’m so scared of saying the wrong thing and them being like “oh actually fuck you and never speak to me again” and losing an entire group i spent a lot of emotional energy on over one poorly worded opinion.
i know this is an unhealthy idea, and tbh the people who did that were probably brain broken dni people anyway and normal people do not in fact just decide you are no longer a person the second you disagree with them, but idk i’m so scared haha

You see a post that you want to reblog, but OP added a banner to the post that says "read my carrd before interacting." Their carrd contains multiple pages of information including a lengthy "DNI" list.
